July 16, 2007
Welcome to the launch of Portugal Sport and Adventure's newsletter. This issue is a little taster of what you can expect. If you like it please pass it on to your friends.

Summer in Portugal

It's July in a sun-drenched Portugal. Here at Portugal Sport and Adventure we're making the most of the summer by heading straight to the beach in the evenings. It has to be the perfect way to relax after a stressful day at work. After seven the beaches empty as people head home for dinner but the water's still warm enough to swim in and the cafés are still serving cool drinks and nibbles and if you wait for the sunset it's very romantic!

The summer holidays are here again and luckily there's plenty to keep the kids entertained and active. For many visiting kids the novelty of playing outdoors in the pool and the beach are enough to keep them amused for a day or so. After that waterparks and watersports are a great way to cool down on hot days and the long light evenings are ideal for horse riding and cycling. All summer, budding Beckhams and tiny Tiger Woods can get professional coaching at football camps and free golf sessions. For more information and tips check out our summer holidays fun page.

In this month's newsletter you can read the latest sports news from Portugal, find out about unmissable events in July and August and see what's new and exciting on Portugal Sport and Adventure.

From August your Discover Portugal newsletter will also include a Portuguese Phrase Book- prepare for your holiday with useful phrases in every newsletter.

The dolphins are coming!
There are dolphins along the Portuguese coast and particularly around Madeira and the Azores but now they've also been spotted in the Guadiana river. They are thought to be attracted by the river's clean waters and resident mackerel. So if you're in the Eastern Algarve keep an eye out for them.
