Alentejo Surf Centre

Alentejo surfing

Our Alentejo surf centre is in Vila Nova de Milfontes on Portugal's southwest coast. Our base is near the centre of the town, 5 minutes from the beach and surrounded by the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina (Natural Park of SW Alentejo and Vicentina Coastline), with its beautiful rivers, hills, wildlife, dunes and a mixture of popular or deserted beaches.

The town enjoys a sunny Mediterranean climate and there’s lots of places to relax, blue flag beaches, parks, restaurants, museums, surf shops, bars, nightclubs..... and much, much more! The Alentejo surf lessons and camp are close to the towns of Zambujeira do Mar and Sines which are famous for their festivals including the Music of the World festival in July and ´Sudoeste Music Festival` in the month of August, which usually has a line-up of top international bands.

So come and discover why the Alentejo is considered one of the best surf spots in Europe with great surf conditions, crystal clean water and beaches sheltered from the wind, stunning sunsets and music festivals! At the Alentejo surf camp you’ll meet like minded people, have lots of time on the water and plenty of laughs

Alentejo Surf Camp Programme

The Alentejo surf camp programme starts every Mondays, so we recommend you arrive on Sundays. Each day kicks off 9 am until 10am with a healthy breakfast of local bread, cereals, croissants, pancakes, fruits, milk and coffee, butter, cheese and ham etc

The surfing lessons are taught by professional surf instructors, certified by the Portugal Surf Federation and whether you are a complete beginner or a regular surfer our instructors will be on hand to help you improve your technique. The course is 4 hours a day with a two hour session in the morning and again the afternoon. Each class has no more than 8 people per instructor and all the equipment is provided

After the surfing there’s a 40 minute yoga session which will ensure peak performance the next day!

On return to the surf camp you can relax in our comfortable lounge, explore the town or enjoy our extra activities, such as mountain biking, kayaking, slide, rappel, rock climbing. You can also visit the shape room where we built our own surfboards models. Later, the chill out area opens, with surf movie/music, drinks, light food and salads. Then you can have dinner in the surf camp or at one of the fantastic restaurants in town.

We can also arrange special surf party nights including dinner, champagne, local cocktails and the best local red/white wine. We’d also recommend a beer at the local beach bar... beautiful setting, friendly people and great music!
