Our Algarve canoeing trips are a fun way to explore, feel close to nature and of course cool down on hot days!
Our relaxing day trip takes you inland away from the hustle and bustle of the coast to the tranquil Arade river. Here the countryside is picturesque and peaceful so you hear the splash of the oars, the water lapping against the canoe and the birds singing in the trees over head. You can see shoals of fish swimming in the clear water alongside the canoes, an array of beautiful and interesting birds and if you're lucky turtles sunning themselves on the riverbank. So its well worth bringing your camera and nature lovers should pack some binoculars.
Our Algarve canoeing trips use traditional wooden Indian canoes which are very stable and take up to 4 people per canoe. The river is slow moving with no waterfalls or extreme currents. So no canoeing experience is necessary and the trip is suitable for children over 6 years old particularly those with a keen interest in nature and the outdoors. On hot days there is nothing better than a refeshing swim in the clear river water. In parts the river is shallow and we may need to push the canoe for a few yards giving you time to stretch your legs and enjoy a cold drink. At lunch time we will leave the canoes at the river bank and walk across country to a great local cafe.
Our Algarve canoeing trips run all year round and are ideal as romantic days out, family adventures and relaxing get aways.

This is a full day trip so please wear comfortable clothes, bring sun cream, hats if necessary, canoeing shoes or shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty and snacks for peckish kids! We can provide life jackets, cool boxes and waterproof camera covers. As with any sports activity please ensure that you are are adequately covered by your holiday insurance.
Our Algarve canoeing trip costs €30 per person. Lunch is extra and costs around €8 to €10 per person.
