There are lots of great Algarve cycling routes. These are some of our most popular Algarve cycling tours to give you an idea of the type and range of tours on offer. These tours leave from Boliqueime (near Vilamoura and Loule)

This tour really shows the diversity of the Algarve taking in the ruined castle at Paderne and the towns of Alvor and Tunes before winding along the striking coastline to Albufeira's colourful new marina and old town. 30km in total of moderately easy cycling.

Taking to the hills
Enjoy spectacular views as you head up and over the hills to Querenca, through the Fonte de Benemola nature park to the historic town of Salir and from there on to Alte via the rocky outcrop of Rocha da Pena. Mountain Biking Along the Via Algarviana
The Via Algarviana is a newly created long distance walking route, part of the European network of long distance GR routes and it's also a great, fun, sometimes challenging ride for mountain bikers. The Via Algarviana links Alcoutim on the Spanish border with Cape St Vincent, the south western tip of Portugal, a journey of around 240 km. The route offers a variety of surfaces from tarmac to tricky rocky slopes, dirt track roads and single track sections. The section of the Via Algarviana that we have chosen for our mountain biking holiday covers 168km and starts in the picturesque hillside village of Alte and heads west to Cape St Vincent. This section offers the best scenery, the most interesting places to visit along the way and good quality accommodation close to the route. It is also the most ride-able section for competent mountain bikers, though we can also recommend alternative routes for those clients wishing to avoid the most challenging sections.

The Via Algarviana mountain biking holiday is aimed at fit and competent mountain bikers. It is for this reason that the holiday price does not include bike hire, as our experience is that keen and regular bikers will want to bring their own bikes with them for this type of holiday. However, hire of good quality mountain bikes can be arranged if required. The cost of the Via Algarviana mountain biking holiday ranges from 225 euros per person to 325 euros per person (depending on the time of the year and based on two people sharing a room).
