Portugal is one of the least populated countries in Europe and a horse riding vacation offer you a wonderful chance to explore its diverse regions and enjoy beautiful, tranquil countryside.

Imagine ancient citrus orchards, densely wooded valleys, lush mountains or golden beaches discovered on a responsive, reliable horse under a cloudless sky. What better way could there be to relax?

Many riding centres offer inclusive holidays in unspoilt areas rarely seen by other tourists, so it's a great opportunity to go somewhere new. Well supervised pony trekking and horse riding camps are also a very exciting option for unaccompanied teenagers.

Thanks to Portugal’s temperate climate it is possible to ride all year around, although in the summer rides often take place in the mornings and evenings to escape the midday heat.

Finally most centres will offer you the choice of riding with English tack and all should provide hard hats. However it is a good idea to contact any centre before you arrive to check what, if any, equipment you need to bring and that they have horses that are suitable for you.
