Madeira Bike Tours

Our Madeira bike tours offer you a fantastic fun way to explore the island. Starting 1818 metres above sea level at the Pico do Areeiro, you'll wind your way down through dramatic mountain scenery to the soft green of the valleys below. Its a chance to feel a real sense of freedom and exhilaration whizzing through fresh clean air with all the island's unique beauty and character unfolding before you. We currently offer two Madeira cycling tours:

Madeira Bike Tour 1: Pico do Areeiro to Monte:
Our journey begins in Funchal, where we will pick everyone up before driving to Pico do Areeiro high up in the mountains. Here there is a short stop at a local cafe while the guides prepare the bikes and safety equipment then we're off. The first stop is a visit to the old ice reservoir of Poço da Neve, then its on down to Poiso an important sheltering place for shepherds in days gone by, through the Funchal Ecological Park until the tour concludes at Monte. Here you will have the chance to visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte and try a glass of the famous local "Poncha" (drink not included in price).
This Madeira bike tour runs on Tuesday mornings and afternoons
Price: 32 Euros (minimum two people)

Madeira Bike Tour 2: Pico do Areeiro to Santo da Serra:
Once again we will drive from Funchal to the heights of Pico do Areeiro before making our first stop at Poço da Neve from where if the conditions are right you can see the city of Funchal. On reaching Poiso, we branch off towards the lush green valley of Santo da Serra, on route there will be several stops to enjoy some fantastic views and the tranquility of the sheep grazing in the fields and the hedgerows bursting with flowers in the summer. Once you reach Santo da Serra you can explore the pretty village park on foot and enjoy a glass of tasty local cider with us (drink not included in price).
This Madeira bike tour runs on Saturday mornings and afternoons
Price: 32 € (minimum two people)
