We offer hour, day or week long rides, kayaking, mountain biking and walking or the opportunity to just relax in a romantic atmosphere. Our original and enchanting guesthouse with its breath-taking views will have you dreaming away the evenings under millions of stars in the unspoilt heart of Portugal.

Our holidays are located in the Beira Alta, a beautiful natural region near Coimbra. Here between the 'Serra da Estrela' the highest mountain on mainland Portugal, the Caramulo mountains and the "Serra do Açor" you'll find roman ruins, striking rock formations, neolithic dolmen, picturesque rivers and small waterfalls. You can soak up the atmosphere of the Portuguese countryside with its traditional villages, friendly people, shepherds with herds of sheep and goats... and above all spectacular scenery.

Whether you are looking for adventurous or tranquil horse trekking for an hour, a weekend or longer or want to learn to ride, our holidays offer lovely, responsive horses...clean air... bird song... pure well water...relaxation...starlight and outstanding natural beauty. We use English tack and encourage guests to take care of their own horses.

We also provide combined adventure holidays in Northern Portugal. This means that we offer you the chance to discover the natural beauty of the region on horse, by kayak, and by mountain bike and for those who only trust their own feet; we have beautiful guided walking-tours. The kayak and mountain biking take place in the valley of the Alva River, a little bit higher up the mountains. You can also plan excursions to Coimbra, Porto, the coastal area of Aveiro, through beautiful mountain villages like Manteigas or Sabougeira or to the 'Torre', the highest mountaintop of Portugal

Our Farm and Guesthouse
Our farm has a beautiful guesthouse with space for up to 7 people. It has its own plunge pool, kitchen, bathroom and terrace. It is situated 1 km from the beautiful historical village of Midões which has a church, palace and spectacular old houses of the Portuguese nobility. The village has its own supermarkets, restaurants and several bars. Let's not forget the beautiful views of the mountains.

On your holiday in Northern Portugal you could be touched by the first sunbeams over our quinta.... You could be sitting next to the wood stove comfortably reading a book … Be gazing out of the window watching the green valleys. Or in summertime melt away in the shade on the terrace next to the pool filled with water from our well … taking a refreshing dip every once in a while and then sinking back into the cushions again.

You'll hear the nightingale sing his song from dusk till dawn. See the buzzard high in the sky watch the free-range chicken family scratch the dirt and see the horses playing.

Our guests enjoy days filled with dazzling nature, lots of cultural information, good food and company. Our holidays in Northern Portugal are truly relaxing for body and mind and a unique and unforgettable experience.

Horse Riding:
45 mins private lessons €9 for children, €11.50 for adults
1 hour ride out €12, discount for children (max. 5 people per trek)
A Day's Horse Trekking (4 hours incl picnic lunch and snacks) €65 (max. 5 people per trek)
Mountain Bike hire €15 per day or €70 per week.

We offer also inclusive holidays with horse-riding, accommodation and home cooked meals. Prices start from €364 for two full days riding, all meals and three nights' accommodation or we can create a tailor-made package for you.

Accommodation offered?
Yes, we have a guest house and accommodation costs from €35 per day per room (for two people sharing. We also arrange accommodation in a campsite and other guest houses.

Our guides speak English, Portuguese, German and French.

Beginners are welcome.
Children are welcome and we offer them discounted rates. Please ask for details

We do not currently have electricity but we offer every other comfort and romantic dinners by candlelight
