Lisbon Bike Tours

The Lisbon bike tours are led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable local guides along carefully planned routes that take in the highlights but not the hills! We offer two tours in Lisbon itself- the historical city centre tour and the Monsanto woodland tour and two in nearby Sintra and Arrabida.

Historical Lisbon Bike Tour
This three and a half hour tour through the heart of historical Lisbon starts from Parque Eduardo VII and takes in Praça Marquês do Pombal, Restauradores, Rossio, Praça da Figueira, Praça do Comércio and the picturesque docks before finishing up at the famous Torre de Belem from where the mariners of old sailed off to discover the New World.

Why a Lisbon bike tour?
Lisbon is a lively, cosmopolitan city with a fascinating history. On a half day bike tour you can experience the city it's atmosphere and culture, it's character, people and tastes, see the highlights and hidden corners alike. Cycling gives you the freedom to feel closer and observe more than on a bus tour and explore futher than on a walking tour. You'll have plenty of time to enjoy the views and stop for photos and every now and then there'll be a stop for the guides to tell you more about life in Lisbon and it's history or to try typical Portuguese pastries or ginginha the famously sweet but strong local liquor! The Lisbon bike tours follow an easy route partly downhill and partly along the flat water front where the Tagus river meets the Atlantic ocean. We won't make you climb Lisbon's famous seven hills so this tour is suitable for everyone and kids are welcome.

For large groups we also offer a combined Lisbon bike and boat tour: combining the bike tour with a cruise in a powerful and exciting RIBs (Rubber Inflatable Boats) either upriver to Lisbon's famous bridges, the 25th April bridge and the Vasco da Gama bridge or downriver past the ancient fortresses built to defend Lisbon from Atlantic attacks.

Monsanto Woodland Bike Tour
Monsanto is 900 hectares of woodland close to Lisbon city centre. The trails meandering through the mediterranean pines, cork and oak trees are ideal for mountain biking and there are superb views over the city and river. The half day tour is a great way to relax in the peace and quiet of nature after spending time in the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. During the tour the guide will explain the history of the park and it's geology, flora and fauna.
