Western Algarve SUP Tours

The spectacular coastline and landscapes of the western Algarve could have been made for stand up paddle (SUP). We have a number of trips for you to choose from including a SUP baptism ideal for families or beginners, a river voyage and a stunning coast and sea caves tour. You don't have to have tried SUP before- our guides will teach you the basic skills and all safety considerations. It is easy to learn as the boards are big and stable. All paddleboard equipment is provided, including wetsuits and buoyancy aids. All you need to bring is a towel and swimming costume. Come and give it a go- you'll be hooked!

Coast and Caves SUP Tour
Explore the hidden beauties of the coastline on a paddleboard discovering places you would never see even on a boat tour. We leave from a picture-perfect beach and paddle out at a slow pace at first to get the hang of the boards. You'll get to paddle inside the magnificent sea caves with their calm, turquoise waters, past towering rock formations and to deserted beaches. You'll feel at one with nature as sea birds bob on the waves nearby and fish swim in the clear water below. There'll be time for a swim and for adrenaline lovers there's the chance to go cliff jumping!

This SUP tour is €50pp in high season (June to Sept) or €40pp (Oct to May) and can include transfers from the Lagos and Sagres area in low season.

SUP Baptism or Family Trip
Come try the fastest growing watersport in the world stand up paddle boarding or SUP for short. Ideal for beginners and for families with kids over 8 years old. You'll have an unforgettable day out in beautiful surroundings and learn a new sport- what more could you want!

The baptism takes place in one of several picturesque SUP spots in the heart of the Costa Vincentina Natural Park. It could be on the river or lagoon close to the beaches of Bordeira or Amoreira on the west coast, here the water is calm and warm, the perfect spot to learn.

This Algarve SUP tour is €50pp in high season (June to Sept) or €40pp (Oct to May) for adults or €25pp/€20pp for kids under 14 years old.

Algarve SUP River and Nature Trip
On this SUP tour you get to explore three of the Western Algarve's diverse and beautiful landscapes: the river, marsh and beach. It is a fun and relaxing tour- ideal for paddlers of all levels and families.

The tour takes you down the Ribeira de Aljezur River to the ocean beach of Praia da Amoreira. After a safety briefing and paddle boarding lesson we head downstream along a narrow channel deep in a valley with lush vegetation to an open area with fields where cattle come to feed. The landscape is constantly changing as we paddle towards the ocean: there are areas with wild berry bushes and then salt marshes with mud banks where shellfish grow. At low tide it is a haven for local and migrating birds and the entire river is full of fish that may surprise you by leaping out of the water.

Downriver we get to the river beach a paradise with tall dunes and slow flowing water- ideal for swimming and for kids to play. As we paddle closer to Amoreira beach the sound of the breaking waves and the smell of salt water intensifies letting you know that you are arriving at your destination! This SUP tour is €50pp in high season (June to Sept) or €40pp (Oct to May). The total trip including travel and teaching lasts 4 to 5 hours of which 2 to 3 hours are out on the water.

You can also combine the SUP river trip with the coast and caves trip for a full day of paddling (€65 to €70pp).
